Paul Harvey made this forecast in 1965. Now, hear his frightening words…

I remember helping my dad bale hay in the summers when I was a little kid in the 1970s. I never left home without my little radio...

Midway through the workday, I would pause to have lunch. After I parked the tractor under a tree for shade, I would have my lunch while listening to Paul Harvey. His voice brings back fond memories of carefree summers spent with my family—my parents, brother, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Thinking about that period makes me sad.

Paul Harvey's weekly audience reached 24 million individuals between 1952 and 2008. There were 1,200 radio stations that carried the "Paul Harvey News," 400 stations on the American Forces Network, and 300 newspapers printed the story. His most well-known contribution was the radio program "The Rest of the Story," which he did for many years.

In Paul Harvey, America found a priceless asset. His tales and advice were well-respected, but his soothing, familiar voice was what really won over listeners of all ages. Listening to his voice has the power to temporarily immerse you in another reality, prompt introspection, and maybe even a life-changing shift of viewpoint.

Those who are open to hearing him out might get a wealth of life lessons from this guy. It is the past that I long for. Those moments when you hold introspective thoughts. I don't know whether we still do it sufficiently as a society.

Paul Harvey wrote an article before starting his television career, which he changed many times. Both literal and symbolic readings of this work are acceptable, and each offers a unique perspective on its contentious nature.

Here you may hear Paul Harvey reading the essay from its 1996 version. Some of his predictions are quite accurate.
